Diving
I’ve wanted to dive since I was a teenager, unfortunately neither the opportunity, nor the finances permitted me to dive while growing up on the Scottish Moray Firth coast.
In 2000 I finally got around to getting OW and then AOW certified via Northeast Scuba in Chelmsford, Mass, and started diving mostly on the wrecks off the Massachusetts coast. Wanting to see more for longer led to Nitrox, Rescue certs then into some technical certs up to Entry-Level Trimix.
A number of us in the New England area started diving DIR equipment in 2002-3, now it seems to be the de-facto standard for equipment setup in 2008. However not sure how many people really “dir” as still a lot of solo deep diving. Not happy about doing this myself on occasion
