Genealogy
Lois and I have researched a fair way back on each of our ancestors lines, here will be a summary of research and data.
The Wortley line that I am from is from Coal mining heart of England in Leicestershire. Originally from the villages of Abb Kettleby and Nether Broughton in eastern Leics, then thru Coalville at the time of the industrial revolution. My earliest Wortley record is a marriage in 1765 to a Brex, which I have the line back the late 1600′s. One feature of the Wortley line shows the true foolishmess of generalogists following the “male” line back hoping to discover the roots of their surname. My ggg-grandmother was Mary Wortley who had her son James as a 17yo unmarried mother. If not enough, *her* grandmother was 3 daughters, all as unmarried, so our use of the surname “Wortley” is pretty artifical.
My mothers side is Stromberg & Gerard, one from Sweden (ex Navy and merchant marine) and “Up North” from Bolton area
